“I am Doreen, a female
Ugandan, age 31. I come from Pader District, in the northern part of
Uganda. During the war in the North, rebels killed my brother, sister,
mother and father, by then I was 18 years. I first stayed in a camp but
life was not easy there so I ran for rescue here in Kampala at my
Aunties place who was and is staying in Acholi quarters. As I was
staying there, I got a man and he married me. We now have 5 children but
4 are my biological children and 1 is for my husband. I also adopted one
of my late brothers’ child and another child (a girl) of my late brother
stays with my aunt (her grand mother). The first is in primary 5,
second in primary 4, third in primary 2, fourth in primary 1, the last
is in middle class, my brothers child is in primary 3.
I am an expert in making beads and at times I train other UWEC members.
When I get money from beads, I pay school fees for my brother’s child
(the boy I stay with). And some to my children for clothes and food.
I thank Rosette for
having mercy on me and allowing me join UWEC.
I hope to continue working with UWEC FOR LIFE.
God bless you all.” Doreen.

"I am Sarah , a female
Ugandan aged 24. I have two children, a boy who is 4 years and a girl
who is two and a half years. I am not married.I normally do tailoring of
doll animals and Noah’s ark from home because I was born with some
disability in my left leg.
But I thank God for that because he has enabled me to do tailoring when
I am lame yet some normal people cannot do it.
I am very grateful to UWEC especially to Rosette for she understood my
problem and allowed me to always do from home then she comes for the
items when I am ready with them. The money I earn from sales to UWEC has
enabled me to pay school fees for my child who now goes to school.
I pray that UWEC does even better than that and we get more orders.
Thank you
God bless you
Sarah "

“I am Rebecca, a female Ugandan aged 55. I
am married and I have 7children. I never studied a lot but went to
school up to primary six level because my parents could not afford to
take me to a higher level beyond that since they were poor. The only
solution was for me to go and learn tailoring and making some other
crafts. This has enabled me to always work hand in hand with my husband
to educate our children and earn a living.
Now in UWEC, I sew clothes, make paper beads
and the income I get helps me to contribute towards the running of our
family.
My prayer is that if God can bless UWEC and
we keep on getting big orders so that we can survive and educate our
children to higher institutions of learning.
God bless you
All from Rebecca .” |
