Project Objectives of UWEC
1. To mobilize and sensitize disadvantaged women
purpose of restoring hope and confidence in them.
2. To train disadvantaged women in basic
crafts skills, and tailoring.
3. To enable
disadvantaged women own projects they feel belong to them.
4. To improve household
income as a means to minimizing domestic violence.
5. To
establish markets for women’s products.
6. To sensitize women
to have voluntary counseling and testing of HIV AIDS.
Expected Outputs
.1.
Women will acquire skills in crafts and tailoring.
2. Women
will get employment in the the informal sector.
3. Women
will earn income and reduce overdependence on husbands.
4. Some
women earning a living through sexual related activities may be
liberated by the project, hence imparting on the incidence of STD’s and
HIV/AIDS spread.
5. It
may reduce domestic violence.
6. It
may increase women participation in decision making.
7. There
will be production of doll dresses, bags, hats, bandanas, baskets,
paper bead jewelry, etc., and a creation of market for these items.
